07 October 2019Telenor presented to the business a 5G trial in the production area
Telenor held the fifth of its series of practical 5G trials during a special event for the business at the headquarters of the telecom.
Together with its partners from Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria, the operator made a demonstration directly from the company’s production center in Kostinbrod where one of the most modern PET bottles production lines in all 28 countries of the Hellenic Group is located. Thanks to the 5G connectivity and the combination of virtual reality glasses and a 360-degrees camera, Lavorka Kekez, Health and Safety Manager at Coca Cola HBK Bulgaria, could oversee the process of the bottling of the company’s products remotely and to monitor the compliance with the established safety rules on the production center’s territory.
Coca Cola HBK Bulgaria has some of the most modern and energy efficient production capacities in all 28 countries in the Hellenic group and it is a regional center for production export.
“These successful 5G trials have given added confidence that the continued development of this technology would have a positive impact on e-society and the business future. As we move towards further embracing 5G, we will be able to offer completely new services and business models that will benefit our clients and partners”, said Jason King, CEO of Telenor. “Working with our business customers to refine the various applications of 5G will bring winning propositions to life for all stakeholders” he added.
„Bulgarian government and the business currently cooperate as to provide the mobile operators with the required spectrum at a reasonable price and are also discussing the possible amendments to the current construction permitting rules”, commented Bulgarian Minister for Transport, IT & Communications, Rosen Zhelyazkov who was a special guest of the event. „Our common goal is to ensure a positive investment environment so Bulgaria can have secure and affordable telecommunication services of the latest generation”, he added.
This was the fifth of a series of practical 5G trials of Telenor under the slogan "5G trials for a better future". Until now, the company held trials in areas such as medicine, mentoring and entertainment. Thanks to the 5G technology, Telenor provided high speed WiFi connection to the visitors of its Park Office at the beginning of September.
The company plans to continue the 5G demonstrations in the coming months, exploring the potential of the next generation of mobile technology. All news about Telenor 5G tests, as well as information about upcoming events, can be found here.
