Over 17,000 young people joined Telenor’s adventure “Digital Scouts: On a hunt for adventure and knowledge”

The game “Digital Scouts: On a hunt for adventure and knowledge” by Telenor Bulgaria, created to help children learn more about online safety, had over 17,000 participants in just one day, last weekend. The game is part of Telenor’s long-term efforts to provide safer internet.

On Saturday, October 17, thousands of children practiced and enriched their knowledge of the digital world. They dived into the adventure of the digital scouts and found the answers to well covered riddles with the help of popular online celebrities. For a successful completion of the game, participants had to answer correctly to questions on online safety. The interest to the game had put it in the top lists in both App Store and Google Play.

The campaign this year managed to prove that the issues of online safety is of interest for children of all ages. The participants under the age of 10 were almost 3,000, and those between 11 and 17 years old were over 8,000. Those are also to most impacted groups, who managed to get valuable advice on how to react in different situations and how to correctly filter true from false information and spot fake news while playing the game.

With the “Digital Scouts: On a hunt for adventure and knowledge” campaign Telenor aimed to help children build habits that will help them to protect themselves and their close ones in the digital environment. During the European Cyber Security Month, Telenor also started offering the “Online Protect” service that allows every customer to protect themselves from malicious software, phising, spam and compromised websites.

The company supports such initiatives since 2006 and among them are a Social Networks Glossary for Parents и Online Bullying Handbook. Telenor was the first telecom company in Bulgaria to launch a filter that blocks web domains containing child sexual abuse materials.
