Telenor’s employees support more than 50 disadvantaged children for the first school day

Telenor has organized the charity initiative "Ready for the Fall semester" for third year in a row. With that cause the company employees have been supporting disadvantaged children. The campaign enables students, supported by the Concordia Foundation, to welcome the first day of school and start the new school year prepared with the necessary teaching materials.

Over 50 children between the ages of 3 and 17 were equipped with materials suitable for their educational needs. In addition to a successful school start, Telenor also gives children the confidence they need to grow up educated and decent people.

As part of the charity event, Telenor employees have dedicated personal time and donated funds to purchase individual gifts that the children of Concordia wished for the first day of school. The wish list includes ordinary school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, aids, creative materials and others that children's families find difficult to provide.

“Telenor and Concordia Bulgaria have been partners for several years and together we manage to support the vulnerable among us. For the second year we celebrate the beginning of the school year together and the children receive from Telenor employees the most colorful and beautiful backpacks for school, full of notebooks, pencils and other surprises. This helps our serious efforts to make school an important part of children's lives. We are grateful and appreciate this partnership! We thank Telenor for its support and trust!” said Stella Gachevska, Executive Director of the Concordia Foundation.

The students from the Concordia Foundation are mostly from families living in poor living conditions. Their parents often find it difficult to meet the daily needs of their children, and the beginning of the school year is a real challenge for them. The foundation strives to prepare children for school not only by supporting them financially, but also by exercising basic skills needed in the learning process. Concordia's children are in many ways’ children like everyone else - with huge reserves of energy, ideas and dreams. For some of them, school is the only way to make their dreams come true.
