Telenor marks the Safer Internet Day with a series of educational videos and a campaign against cyberbullying

Telenor marks the International Safer Internet Day for another year by publishing a series of educational videos, available at ottebzavisi.net.

Developed in partnership with the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre, , the videos provide information on the dangers online as well as the methods to overcome them. The telecom is also holding a campaign against online bullying with the motto #NoHate (#БезХейт) that is supported by some of the teen favorite creators on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.

The educational video series addresses some of the most common risks online and gives tools for their prevention. The videos are targeted mostly to teenagers and their parents, but their content can be useful for all internet users. Among the topics are the identification and protection from fake profiles online, protection and management of children’s smart devices, what is the Web of Trust, and how to spot fake news. The motto of the video series is “No worries for the little ones, calm for the big ones. Together for a better internet”. More videos will be published in the coming weeks.

#NoHate is an initiative by Telenor, which aims to raise awareness about cyberbullying. According to data by the Bulgarian Safer Internet Center, 100% of the children have been a victim of cyberbullying and 70% of them have been participants in cyberbullying, including unknowingly. The campaign is supported by some of the most popular social media celebrities, such as Ayde BG, Andy Studio, Suzi and Reni, Pavel Kolev and Icaka, Elexa, Eelyasaa, Stan and Steffi, and others. They will tell their followers about cyberbullying and will call to answer online hate with #NoHate and to send positive messages in their online communication. The campaign also has its own Instagram filter, available for use to every user of the social network.

Telenor again awarded the best participants in the program Cyberscout for last year. The winners are cyberscout squad “Team Net Guards” from “Sveti Kliment Ohridski” school in Aksakovo, who received certificates and awards for their achievements. The program by Telenor and the Safer Internet Centre is held since 2015 and aims to raise awareness among students and their teachers about the risks online. In 2019, the program directly trained 862 students from 42 schools in 25 cities. Through different activities, they successfully reached 2,000 of their peers and the best of them took first places in the national contest among the different squads

Since 2006 Telenor traditionally and actively supports the initiatives related to ensuring safer internet, among which are a Social Networks Glossary for Parents, Online Bullying Handbook. Telenor was the first telecom company in Bulgaria to launch a filter that blocks web domains containing child sexual abuse materials.
