26 March 2021Telenor to support the Earth Hour initiative for thirteenth year in a row
Telenor will join the Earth Hour initiative of the international environmental organization WWF for a thirteenth year in a row. At the annual event, millions of people and organizations from all over the world turn off appliances and lights for an hour to show their support for the fight against climate change. Earth Hour aims to show that together we can meet the challenges facing us and the environment. That is why this year initiative is dedicated to the bear protection in Bulgaria.
Tomorrow, on March 27, between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm Telenor will turn off the lights at its administrative buildings, while the shops of the operator throughout the country will switch to low light mode. The company's systems providing the seamless network operation and customer service will be left online.
Telenor is not only a participant, but also an active ambassador of the initiative. Each year the company reminds and encourages its customers, partners, employees and social media users to get involved and show their commitment to the initiative.
In March, Telenor implemented another initiative in support of a green cause. The operator's campaign to buy unpacked phones and smart gadgets will support the creation of a home for the Imperial Eagle. The campaign will be active until the end of March in the operator’s online shop, and for each device purchased will be donated BGN 10 in supporting the creation and maintenance of a forest that will become a nesting habitat for the Imperial Eagle. The forest, which is to be planted is located in the Sakar Protected Area, in the area of Topolovgrad. The Imperial Eagle is an endangered species, whose population in our country is gradually increasing, thanks to the long-term efforts of BSPB. For the first three weeks of the initiative, more than 300 devices have been purchased, and the campaign will be active until March 31, so everyone has a few more days to choose and buy a device with cause.
Telenor implements a long-term strategy for environmental sustainability, aiming to continuously reduce its impact on the environment. The company implements sustainable environmental policies, through which, in addition to caring for nature and natural resources, it aims to raise awareness and environmental culture of its employees and their commitment to green ideas.
