22 April 2020Two times more people joined the online courses for people with disabilities by Telenor
The participants in the first edition of Academy Open Mind doubled after the series of courses was moved online. Academy Open Mind includes free professional development courses for people with disabilities and it is organized by Telenor. The online courses are held in partnership with the non-governmental organization Jamba that helps people with the professional development of people with disabilities.
The Academy was supposed to start in March, but it was postponed due to the national emergency. Despite that, the registrations almost doubled to 20 participants, so the courses started online. This also allowed for participants from across the country to join the Academy.
The Academy is a continuation of the career development program for people with disabilities Open Mind, held by Telenor since 2015. The course selection for the Academy is based on the skills that last year’s Open Mind candidates lacked most often. The first phase of the Academy includes two courses – Basic Computer Literacy and Corporate Communication. The plans for the second phase include an English Language course.
The teachers of Academy Open Mind will be volunteers from the business, Jamba supporters and Telenor employees.
The Open Mind program is held annually as part of the company’s long-term corporate responsibility strategy. In the editions so far, 21 participants joined the company as part of Process Management, Legal Affairs, People & Culture, Marketing and other divisions. Of all participants so far, five stayed on permanent contracts with Telenor Bulgaria after the end of the program.
