Better voice and high quality connection in Telenor 4G network with VoLTE technology

Telenor introduces the high-speed wireless communication technology Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and select customers of the operator are among the first in Bulgaria to benefit from better voice and high-quality connection during calls over the 4G network.

With VoLTE, the initial call connection time between users of the technology is shorter than that in the 2G and 3G networks. Voice calls are with HD quality and customers continue to use 4G mobile data services without interruption during calls.

The technology is now available for randomly selected private and business customers of the telecom who have VoLTE-compatible mobile devices, and have a subscription plan with 4G access. Users have to be within Telenor 4G network coverage and calls with VoLTE quality are only possible if both parties use the technology. Calls under VoLTE are charged according to the user subscription plan and do not use from the user’s available mobile data bundle.

Telenor was the first among Bulgaria’s major operators to offer 4G in December 2015. In 2016, the telecom started using carrier aggregation in the existing 4G network – in the 1800MHz and 2100MHz bands, a technology now popular in Bulgaria as 4.5G. Currently, Telenor’s 4.5G network covers 45 cities and winter and summer resorts across the country and is also available in 87 other towns and tourist destinations.
