Telenor wins 2016 Fastest Mobile Network in Bulgaria Award by Ookla

Telenor Bulgaria won the 2016 Faster Mobile Network in Bulgaria Award by the global leader in internet testing and web-based network diagnostic applications Ookla, the operator’s Chief Executive Office Mr. Michael Foley told a news conference, held today.

Telenor won the award based on the results of more than 350,000 user tests, conducted with over 65,000 devices at more than 600 locations across Bulgaria in the first six months of the year.

„These tests were all initiated and done by real users in locations and times of their choice and were not solicited or assisted in any way by Telenor. We at Ookla have verified and analyzed these results, and compared the findings against other Bulgarian operators. It was evident that Telenor has the fastest mobile network in Bulgaria“, said Ookla chief executive officer Mr. Doug Suttles in a video message played at the event.

Telenor registered 160% year-on-year growth in data usage and more than 74% increase in 4G-enabled devices penetration for the nine months to September 2016.

To mark the winning of the 2016 Fastest Mobile Network in Bulgaria Award by Ookla and the second anniversary of Telenor on Bulgarian market, as of October 17, the operator will offer extra 2000 МВ at maximum speed per month to all of its new and existing post-paid clients customers who sign up to Telenor or renew their contract by November 25. The offer is valid with a 2-year subscription for the tariff plans, currently offered by Telenor.

Users of Telenor pre-paid services who activate a Telenor, Tourist or Mobile Internet start pack from October 17 to November 25 will also get extra 2000 МВ, valid for the initial period of validity of pre-loaded usage.
