26 July 2018Telenor expands access to VoLTE as of August 1, 2018
Telenor is to expand access to the Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology in its 4G network to its post-paid customers after successfully testing the technology earlier this year.
As of August 1, the technology will be available to Telenor residential and business customers who have VoLTE-compatible devices, use subscription plans with 4G access and are within the Telenor 4G network coverage. VoLTE will not be available to pre-paid users and corporate clients who use certain business services.
The VoLTE technology provides for faster connection times, compared to 2G and 3G networks, HD quality of calls and continuous, uninterrupted use of 4G mobile data during calls. Calls via VoLTE will be charged the usual price as per the customers’ plans and will not deplete users monthly data allowance.
In order to use the technology, Telenor customers must make sure that the VoLTE option in the settings of their smartphones is enabled. Detailed information about the smartphone models and the respective OS currently supported by Telenor VoLTE as well as the answers to the most frequently asked questions will be available at the operator’s official website. via call to short number 123 and in all Telenor and official partner shops.
Telenor commenced testing the technology in the end of May 2018 with a number of randomly selected residential and corporate customers and would like to thank all users who provided feedback and suggestions for improving the service.
