Children and parents are to go to on a hunt for fun and knowledge in the second edition of the educational game by Telenor, called “Digital Scouts”. The special mobile app will help children learn how to avoid dangers online, while they’re having fun and winning great prizes.

This year’s second edition of the game will be completely online on October 17, Saturday. The app is available and completely free at Google Play and Apple App Store and the game is suitable for children over 7-years old.

The game is a series of questions on different topics related to online safety. Among the themes are personal data protection, online communication with strangers, online bullying among peers, and media literacy. The game also includes four video riddles, specially created by popular Bulgarian influencers. The children will have the task to look for the correct answers to these video riddles on the internet and to check in practice what they have learned.

“Digital Scouts” aims to engage and inform children and their parents about safer internet. In 24 hours, children will be able to go through the questions that will not only help them in the future but will also give them a chance to have fun with their favorite online celebrities. They will be able to also win one of 150 prizes. Among the prizes are smartphones, headphones, wireless speakers and two mystery boxes, full of surprises. Part of the special prizes is specially prepared for the participants in the game by the popular Pavel Kolev and Itsaka and Andy Studio.

The game is part of Telenor’s long-term efforts on providing safer internet and knowledge for overcoming the most common online challenges. The company supports similar initiatives since 2006, among them the Social Networks Glossary for Parents and Online Bullying Handbook. Telenor was the first telecom company in Bulgaria to launch a filter that blocks web domains containing child sexual abuse materials.

More information on online safety is available on the platform ottebzavisi.net,where education materials for children, parents and teacher were uploaded. Telenor is also part of the European Cyber Security Month, which is coordinated by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity and European Commission.

This month Telenor has started offering the service “Online Protect” for protection from the dangers on the internet.
