14 March 2018Commissioner Yavor Kolev from the DGCOC will train parents how to protect their kids on the Internet
Pedophiles on the Internet is the topic Yavor Kolev, Head of “Transborder Organized Crime“ within the General Directorate “Counter Organized Crime”, will present at the parents forum IT’S UP TO US. The event is dedicated to child online safety, the risks in the global network and the ways to tackle them.
Every year the number of Bulgarian children who use the Internet from an early age increases. Consequently, this increases the risk of them being in an inappropriate online environment even more. According to the latest survey conducted by the Safer Internet Center last year, one third of Bulgarian children have interacted with a stranger while being online and about one-fifth of those children have met the people who they first interacted with on the Internet.
What we need to know about our children, how to be a successful parent in the digital era, what are the threats in the online communication and what do children do in social media networks are just some of the hot topics that probably have bothered every parent. Those topics will be discussed during the forum organized by Telenor.
The whole-day event will be held on March 17, 2018, at the Sofia Event Center in partnership with the Safer Internet Center, Parents Association and the website "Maiko Mila!”. The forum is part of the supplementary program of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. It is also the closing event of the first edition of the Days of Digital and Media Literacy in Bulgaria.
The forum is free of charge and everyone can book a seat by registering at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/43531792764.
