Telenor customers, both prepaid and postpaid, who opted to test the operator’s 4G services until the end of January 2016, will continue to enjoy the company’s fourth-generation (4G) services at no additional cost after January 31.
All other customers will continue using the fully renovated and updated Telenor 3G network but will still be able to join the company 4G network by extending their contract with any of the following tariffs: Nonstop (all tariffs), Rezerv Standart 19.99 and Rezerv Standart 25.99, Rezerv 19.99 and Rezerv 24.99, as well Internet 19.99 and Internet 29.99.
Telenor launched its 4G services on December 1, 2015 and the company’s 4G network now provides effective outdoor coverage to approximately 57% of the Bulgaria’s population. It offers users up to 50% faster download and nearly four times faster upload speeds, compared to the 3G network. Presently, Telenor 4G network covers all cities with population of more than 20,000 in the country, as well as all major ski resorts.
Since December 1 to date, more than 196,000 customers tested the new 4G network. Telenor registered growth of 20% of data usage in this period, compared to the same period of the last year with data usage growth reaching the record 250% in the first hour of 2016.
In 2016, Telenor will continue expanding and improving the quality of its 4G network with special focus on cities and towns with population of more than 10,000 residents and the most popular seaside resorts where Telenor targets to offer 4G services before the beginning of the holiday season. Depending on the available spectrum, Telenor will also work on further improving the maximum data speed over 4G the company expects to obtain additional spectrum in the 1800 band МHz later this year.
