Telenor will grant a total of BGN 77,958 to “Pencho Slaveykov” School in Dimitrovgrad for building a high-tech Young Mind laboratory as part of the 2016 Digital Classroom contest. The news was announced by Telenor Chief Executive Officer Mr. Michael Foley at an official ceremony held at the school which was attended by the Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Mr. Ivo Dimov.

‘It’s a true pleasure for me to be here among so many young and bright minds who will take advantage of up-to-date tech equipment in their school. I think this is extremely important because today’s children use the internet and digital technologies more actively than ever before. What’s more, it means easier access to knowledge and faster development of key skills that will prepare the youth for even more digital and connected future,’ Mr. Foley said.

The funds provided by Telenor will be used to purchase 3D printer, Sand Reality Box, Lego Mindstorms sets, interactive touch tables and notebooks. The modern equipment will be used by more than 600 students and 60 teachers as part of their core educational program in both general and specialized classes.

Last week Telenor announced the first winner in this year’s Digital Classroom contest. “Dimitar Blagoev” school in Provadia will receive more than BGN 90,000 from Telenor to build a virtual centre for 3D and digital technologies

The Digital Classroom initiative is held for a second consecutive year as part of Telenor’s corporate responsibility strategy focused on supporting young people and education in Bulgaria. So far, four schools have been awarded nearly BGN 360,000 in the contest.
