Telenor commenced developing its network under the technology currently popular as 4.5G back in 2016. Presently, it covers 45 cities and winter and summer resorts across the country and is also available in 87 other cities and tourist destinations.
Telenor Bulgaria closely follows technology trends and actively explores all opportunities coming from the new technologies. The company consistently implements new technologies in order to expand network capacity and to improve the customer experience.
Telenor was the first among Bulgaria’s major operators to offer 4G in December 2015. Since then, the company is shaping the trends for the implementation of the technology and the related services in Bulgaria and is driving the overall advancement of the telecom market in the country. Telenor constantly expands the coverage and the capacity of its 4G and started using carrier aggregation in the 1800MHz and 2100MHz bands (a technology now popular as 4.5G) back in 2016 when it was offered to customers in Vratza, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo and Pazardzhik and also in the most popular winter resorts.
In 2017, Telenor continued to develop its 4.5G network and expanded it to other cities like Haskovo, Pleven, Kardzhali, Sliven as well as some of the most popular summer resorts. As of the end of 2017, 4.5G by Telenor is available in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas.
Telenor will continue to further expand the capacities of its network and congratulates the other Bulgarian mobile operators for their active work on the development of their networks and for the overall technological advancement of Bulgaria.
