31 May 2016Telenor invests in early public warning system
Telenor invested in the development of an early warning messaging system that would allow Bulgarian Interior Ministry to deliver timely warnings to the population in case of natural disasters and accidents. Bulgarian deputy prime minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Mrs. Rumyana Bachvarova and Telenor Bulgaria chief executive officer Mr. Stein-Erik Vellan signed the respective agreement today in Sofia.
The solution will allow the Ministry’s Emergency Services to send messages with warnings, evacuation instructions and other useful information to Telenor subscribers in affected areas. Telenor experts developed the solution in tight co-operation with the ministry’s Chief Directorate ‘Fire Safety and Civil Protection’.
The solution is expected to be fully deployed within two months when it will be officially presented to the public.
The service is free of charge to all users. It is available with handsets which offer cell broadcast and it requires no additional handset settings. All messages will be in Cyrillic and Telenor will provide assistance to all clients that might face any issues with using the service.
