Telenor launches a contest for active young people interested in social challenges and digital technology who will represent Bulgaria in the international Telenor Youth Forum 2017. The local delegates will have the chance to join a global team of young leaders to tackle social challenges, as well as to attend international gatherings in Oslo and Bangkok.
The contest is open to all Bulgarian students or graduates born in the period between January 1, 1989 and January 1, 1997 who are fluent in both written and spoken English. Applicants are invited to prepare a short text on the ‘Digitalization for Peace’ topic and upload it together with their CV at the online platform of the contest till August 15, 2017. In their essays, participants may present their passion and experience in driving social, economic and/or environmental change.
The shortlisted 4 finalists will be invited to a video interview regarding their application. A jury of Telenor Bulgaria, Junior Achievement and WWF representatives will select the two winners who will represent Bulgaria at the Telenor Youth Forum 2017.
The Forum brings together young leaders from Telenor’s 12 markets. It begins with a seminar in Oslo in the period of December 8-10. The telecom will cover the all travel, food and accommodation expenses of the two winners. Participants will form teams, with each team dedicated to a social challenge. They will continue working on their assigned challenges in the next months. In Oslo, participants in the youth forum will also watch live the Nobel Peace Prize event and will be invited to the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
The delegates will meet again in May 2018, in Bangkok. There, the projects they have been working on will be presented in a digital exhibition. In the final part of the forum, the team whose new product or service idea is deemed the most viable and/or impactful will be announced as a winner. Its members will then be awarded with a second trip to Oslo and a speaking slot at the next round of the Forum.
The Bulgarian winners of last year's contest Ani Koleva and Boyan Petrov recently returned from Bangkok where the final part of the previous edition of the forum took place. During the seminars Ani and Boyan, along with the other delegates, had the opportunity to receive guidance and mentorship from experts at organizations which include UNICEF, the World Education Foundation, the Red Cross and others.
The international Telenor Youth Forum is held for the fifth time as a global initiative for exchanging opinions on the way digital technologies can encourage growth and positive change within the society. The initiative is part of the Telenor Group partnership with the Nobel Peace Prize Center.
