Telenor registered over 24,000 visitors of Finding Emo campaign website

Telenor registered over 24,000 visitors to the website of the online campaign Finding Emo. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of adolescents and their parents regarding the risks of sharing personal information on social networks. It was part of the annual joint initiative with the Bulgarian Safer Internet Center on the occasion of Safer Internet Day.

It was only for seven days, in the period of 7 to 14 February 2017 that over 4,000 visitors participated in the online quest and 1145 of them registered for distribution of prizes provided by Coolpad, including smartphones Modena, Torino S, Porto S and ten external Big Boy batteries.

The Finding Emo campaign included questions related to its main character - Emil Dobromirov whose profile was fictional and was composed on common behavior of young people in the social networks.

According to a study conducted by MarketLinks and whose results were presented during the Safer Internet Day, for the last 6 years, the average age of children who have started using the internet has dropped from 10 to 7 years of age. On the other hand, parents rarely impose certain rules for the use of Internet and digital technologies and are not aware of all potential online risks. The study also shows that one third of Bulgarian children have interacted with a stranger while being online and about one-fifth of those children have met the people who they first interacted with on the Internet.

Telenor actively supports the initiatives related to ensuring the safest internet experience possible. Among them are Social Networks Glossary for Parents and Online Bullying Handbook. In September 2016, more than 260 Telenor employees met over ten thousand Bulgarian school kids in 60 elementary and middle schools across Bulgaria and educated them on the risks they may encounter online and оn the ways to tackle them. The Be Smart, Use Heart initiative was held in cooperation with the Bulgarian Safer Internet Center. At the end of 2014 Telenor was the first telecom company in Bulgaria to launch a filter that blocks web domains containing child sexual abuse materials.
