Telenor warns about attempts for fraud

Telenor would like to inform and warn about the numerous recent attempts for defrauding users (phishing) and for fraudulent personal data collection with fake websites and email messages in which Telenor logo and trademarks have been unlawfully used.

Telenor has taken the necessary actions to stop these fraudulent activities and is co-operating with the respective authorities for the apprehension of the perpetrators behind these attempts.

Telenor also advises its clients to carefully inspect the content of such messages and to not offer their personal information to suspicious parties. In case of receiving suspicious email messages, Telenor advises users not to rely on the well-known brands and logos as a reason to believe these messages authentic and not to take any actions in haste and under the promise of a reward or under threat.

Any link in an email message can be checked for its true internet address by briefly pointing a mouse courser on it. Obvious typos and grammar mistakes are also among the signs for a potentially fraudulent message. Telenor clients should never open any attached files in such messages.
