Telenor won the second prize in the Investor in Human Capital category for 2015 in this year's competition of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF). The company was awarded for its Open Mind program for professional development and social inclusion of people with disabilities.
At an official ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy of Bulgaria, Mr. Ivaylo Kalfin handed the award to Telenor Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Mr. Yassen Guev.
I am very happy that once again we are among the companies awarded for their responsible business practices. The Open Mind program is a long term commitment of Telenor aimed at empowering people with disabilities to become more competitive in the labour market but moreover at proving that they are valuable part of our society and deserve a chance to build a career, Mr. Guev said.
The first edition of Open Mind began last year and Bulgaria is the fourth country in which Telenor Group launches the initiative. Participants in the program have the opportunity to acquire new skills and experience by working on a specific project in Telenor for a period of two years, while Telenor offers them open and accessible working environment, with remuneration package corresponding to the position. After successful completion of the programme, Telenor will provide permanent employment or support candidates for securing roles in the market place.
BBLF’s annual awards for responsible business are presented for the 13th consecutive time. This year 93 projects and 63 companies participated in the contest. Its aim is to distinguish and promote the contribution of responsible business to the education, environment, employees and society as well as to motivate other companies to develop active social policy.
